Jobs are harder and harder to find unless you go overseas or slip into a major importer/exporter of cheap human lives.

I have a smart xxx laude family member who's young enough and pretty. She went to a good university and is having a heck of a time finding employment. Four or five years ago when she graduated and without prompting from me she told me how scared she was about the world she was entering. She's smart and was right.
In math terms, 50% of data is above the median, 50% is below. Median is a form for average being the middle number of the data unlike mean which is the sum divided by the numbers in the set. Mean is easily swayed due to numbers being more higher or lower while median is just the middle of the numbers. Say for a given data of test scores (40, 63, 55, 75, 88, 92, 100) the mean is 73.29 while the median is 75. The mean is lower because it is swayed by the 40 and the 55. Mathematically, you would be likely be 50% below the median or 50% above it even if by a little, the issue is in the case of wages, it is HEAVILY skewed by a few VERY highly paid CEOs and many very low paid workers. This is partially why median wage is about 27K now.

As for the daughter, I'd argue that maybe she is smart but mal-advised. Pre-2009, NOBODY worried about demand for new graduates and if she graduated four/five years ago, she wouldn't have checked nor told to look. Now people take that as common knowledge... Perhaps she has a bad major in relation to her location OR a major she was really interested in. The issue is we hear STEM, STEM, STEM, but let's remember, not everyone is wired to be a math, science or do things with computers beyond internet and Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint.

They are taking some, but we're still doing very well on the skilled job front. Our problem is we lack adequate labor supplies for such tasks.

Some American engineers at Intel are being replaced by foreigners. My neighbor was one. He had to train the new Chinese guy. Luckily my neighbor is young and got a job elsewhere in 1 day (at a lower salary for equal skill level).

For the intelligent, talented and motivated, this is a great time to be in the job market. Welcome to the meritocracy.

The benefit of being below average is that you get to work part time at an easy job at Walmart while collecting welfare. The intelligent and skilled have to get up early for a long commute, run the rat race, etc.

Yup, over 40 years old (over 30 in some industries), then nothing can stop the freight train that is runaway age discrimination.

Not much has changed in centuries. This world is not a utopia. Fulfillment and contentment is the exception rather than the rule.

That is typical for some not to post a source, which by the way means they don't have one. Also typical how they will ignore posts like yours all because they cannot produce said source.
