I'm curious to know if anyone out there that has graduated from a ABET civil engineering program is having difficult time finding employment in the profession.
Can you tell me the region/states, that are hiring ? Or better yet the name of the companies? I am a holder of a bachelors degree in civil engineering and have yet to find employment in this profession. I have been sending applications out of state (California) and have not received any offers. I don't have experience, just a few internships that I managed to get while I was in and out of school.
jobaba,
I might have to disagree with you about your assessment of the job market - My view of it is quite different, I think it is terrible.

Anywhere where the democrats have control.
No, I'm serious. In the last election, the GOP candidate promised to halt all constructions to... you guessed it give tax breaks to the rich. I remember back then everyone in engineering was getting ready to go look for another job in another state. Well, Pat Quinn got elected and there are now more construction projects than ever before.

Fascinating! I wonder if this has any trickle-up/trickle-down/trickle sideways effect on the rest of the local job market? I currently live in one of the reddest of red states, and things are quite bad here. There are plenty of call center, retail, and warehouse jobs, but not much else.

Lol. You have to be joking. Illinois has one of the highest unemployment rates in the country, along with construction. Construction workers have to travel to nearby red states for work. Indians economy is amazing compared to broke ass blue state Illinois. Construction jobs are still worse than most workers have ever seen. Where did you get your info from??? Source please.
And why would a GOP canidate "promise" to halt construction jobs. Most construction is done in the private sector. Additionally, Illinois has a flat income tax rate, that our liberal governor Quinn almost doubled!! Everyone pays more now! There was never any talk by anyone of giving tax breaks to the rich. It's a FLAT tax rate. Always has been. Enough with the propaganda.
