If this is a serious inquiry, I have to bring in some reality. That's a great salary if you live in a low-cost area and they also pay benefits. If they don't pay vacation or sick leave they probably don't pay medical. If you are in NY, LA, San Francisco or Seattle that will not be enough to buy a decent home, or rent a good apartment if you have kids to feed. You will also have to pay a high price for private health insurance, since the salary is too high to qualify for any Obamacare subsidies, and without health insurance you will be fined.

Note: no paid vacation, or time off, but you can choose to take weeks off without consequence or risk of being fired.
Idk what it is your friend is doing but even without overtime or holiday pay that's over 100k a year. I would take it.

I think it depends on one's circumstances. As someone mentioned previously, that would probably go further in "Middle America" than the larger metros on either coast. It would also go further if one is single, rather than married with a gaggle of kids.

Initially read that as $400/hr. But $400/day is roughly $50/hr, so is there some sort of catch to this...?

Not so good if you're a hitman. Very good if you're a coyote.
