HI all, fast forward 8 years and now Burnsville has caught my attention. We have snowbird pals in Spruce Pine and was captivated by a concrete dome house*yes, someone would consider a holiday domehouse) on a few acres there. It seems like a good structure to walk away from, multilevel so as to Air-bnb the lower level and seemingly low maintenance.
Any thoughts on the area and the weirdness of a dome? And I seem to notice little to nil capital appreciation in the general area, not a biggie nit always a consideration in any real estate. Does that seem the case? Thanks!
Thankfully Burnsville has not become a tourist destination and Burnsville has for the most part has remained the small yet busy rural town most of us liked about the area to begin with . We do have a wet city with whine and a abc store also have a micro brewery in town but thankfully growth remains slow . Your dollars spent on a home tend to go farther here than Weaverville or some rural type areas .
There is one dome home I have seen listed for sale here and I don't think any thing about that style housing . Not a home design I care about . You can search Zillow for one dome house and decide on your own . Its also well down 80 s in the busick area and a longer drive to any where .
We have been here 20 years and live on the west side of the county and would not care to be any closer to Asheville . We have a 20 minute drive to Weaverville and that area covers any big box store needs that may arise and we do like the Publix grocery there . Yancey county is a nice laid back rural area to live if that's what you want .

Black Mountain can have a harsher winter and hotter summers and more rain than we do in the valley along us-19 but as you go up in elevation or closer to state lines it will be colder , wetter and more snow or ice so it depends on where you live but weather does seem to be milder where we live when compared to black mountain . Also waaay less touristy !
Lately it seems everywhere has been a little warmer then normal and wetter but temps have yet to reach beyond 88* and nights have been in the lower 60's Its 64* now at 7:30 am . Yesterday it was 60* around this same time .
