LET'S AGREE, THAT WAYNESVILLE, IS A QUAINT LITTLE TOWN!!!!!!
""BUT"", if you want to do any shopping outside of Ingles, or WalMart, you gotta go into Asheville, or somewhere else!!!!!
What's that old saying????
>>"""IF WALMART AIN'T GOT IT....YOU PROBABLY DON'T NEED IT""<<<< [LOL]
THANK YOU...Thank you....We know...The shopping is bad.
So my wife accepted an offer from WCU so we'll be moving to the area soon. We have a large dog and we were wondering if anyone knew of any rental property from West Asheville all the way down to Cullowhee..
Thanks

Reason: I have no idea
If you're just going for a visit and want a pretty, leisurely drive, then fine. Burnsville is a cute town, not much there. So it's not what we would call a "commute". You have to take Rt. 19, a long windy two-laner.
Actually, if you are going from Asheville to Burnsville or vice versa, a lot of the road is four lane now. I'm not sure if it's still called future I-26, but I-26 takes you up into Madison County and then it's only about twenty minutes from where you turn off of 26 until you get to Burnsville. It's not a bad drive at all!
I would move to Waynesville in a heartbeat! or Maggie Valley, Murphy, Franklin, or Andrews. If you're looking for [yet] unspoiled areas, head over there. One of the reasons it is remaining "unspoiled" is its proximity to the Asheville airport for the relocators. But you can also get to Knoxville via Rt. 40, a tad longer drive, but depends on your final destination. Here in the mountains, you will always have a connection; there are no hubs except Atlanta or Charlotte. Ugh.
People in waynesville are far from nice sweet charmers you would expect to meet in the south. most people i have ran across are rude ! Good luck in the area. The river is nasty there are no lakes in the county you can swim in with out the fear of you skin rottening off.
Hi, My husband and I were interested in relocating our family to start a business in Waynesville. I would love any input on the community as far as businesses go. Is Waynesville a town that supports their local businesses vs franchises/major corporations.
Thanks
Imo, based on conversations with several good friends that have businesses in town/Haywood county: yes. Not nirvana, but the town, and esp the 'Downtown Assoc', and the county Chamber of Commerce, works with and supports local biz, from my friends' reports.
Like many western NC towns, it is quite dependent on seasonal tourism, and the larger population that lives here from April through November. It does have a few big box stores, some chain stuff, etc., but 'downtown' is chain/big joint free, and while any biz is a struggle, the main downtown streets are quite 'full' in terms of biz. And you are likely to find commercial space fairly cheap, if you look around. What sort of business is it that you are thinking about?
