Queen, congratulations! I know this was hard, especially with kids involved. I hope you're very happy - please keep us posted on purchase, decorating, etc.
we still have the dream of small, green-built home in the future - but really like the new one and I see so much potential ! in times of a really bad economy building a home is just a risk and we are just happy, we were able to get this one home at an unbelievable low price.
If it's any consolation, buying an existing home is about the greenest thing you can do.

CONGRATULATIONS!
I completely agree. Buying a "used" home is much greener than building ANYTHING new. Sure you can update the home to make it more green if you will. But raping the land and building a new home regardless of the intent is just in no way green. It's a form of recycling in a way that can really impact the environment in a good way.
CONGRATS QUEEN!! We have been following your journey - now you are yet another to add to our list of successes. I hope sometime in the near future, I, too, will be packing it up to be in WNC! Keep us posted on your experiences.
