I-95 through most of Central PBC reminds me of a third world country. Such stark inequality.

Yeah but head into Hypoluxo and it's an entirely different experience.

Like I said, stark inequality. Parts of Lake Worth remind me of Baghdad. I haven't seen much of a "middle class" in PBC, if you know what I'm saying. No secret that Manalapan is the nicer than anything in Broward County, and no secret that Central PBC has a larger expanse of ghetto that sinks even lower than the worst Sistrunk and NW Fort Lauderdale has to offer, and thats pretty bad, because those are still some of the worst neighborhoods I have seen. It's just that the ghettos in central PBC ARE the worst I have seen, save for some of the housing projects in Brooklyn like Queensbridge.

I don't like the word inequality. It makes me think of the dirtbag socialists who think it's moral to take from someone and give it to someone else. I realize that encompasses the vast majority of the population ( most are too ignorant or too dishonest to realize it or admit it ). You don't based on what I've read fit that mold.

I can think of a lot of areas in Broward though that would fit with what you are saying though. North Lauderdale ? I bought my first house in Palm Aire Village. Was all excited after moving in and went to the Winn Dixie on 31st and Commersh. Boy oh boy was I sorry. I started driving to freaking Margate just to do grocery shopping. Thankfully there was Carmines in BayColony for the good stuff. Not a bad drive.....

Yea, North Lauderdale used to be pretty bad. It got a lot better, and parts of it could even be considered *GASP* nice now, especially west of the turnpike! Still doesn't remind me of a third world country though, and you don't have fabulously rich people living next to the really poor. North Lauderdale is kind of working class...Palm Aire is kind of middle class. Let's put it like this, there is some crime in that area, but it's not "poverty stricken" or an area I'm afraid to drive around in broad daylight. Lauderhill can get nasty though, but still, I haven't found a ghetto that large and consistent as what is in Central PBC. Up that way, the ghettos are growing, down here, the ghettos grew through the 90s, and started to shrink after the county started becoming built out. There will be a time when the same thing happens in PBC. Now there are 110 gangs in PBC, Broward has 28. There was a time when Broward had 80 gangs in the 90s when it was in a similar growth stage to PBC.

Oh, and when I say "inequality", i'm just saying that you have really, really poor people living right next to really, really rich people and not much in between. Don't really have to blame the socialists for my use of the term or the economic condition of PBC ,LOL, its just I have found that Palm Beach County has a really awkward feel like that. Its more consistent down this way. Its mixed as hell between I-95 and U.S.1 hitting some extremes here and there, its hell between 95 and the turnpike with a few exceptions, it's working class between turnpike and univeristy, and then from there on, its suburban and middle class consistently. Point is, it's all contained within areas.

Point is,innocent people are getting robbed, shot, and killed over 40 dollar robberies at City Place, but they are supposed to set a youth kerfew to cut some of the major crimes occurring in that area. You don't even hear about that on Sistrunk here THAT bad.

I could never put up with Broward again. My dentist is in Wilton Manors and I'll be seeing him tomorrow. What a drive. But he's old school and honest as the day is long with I cannot say for many in that profession. Been seeing him for almost 20 years now.

And I went to a convention in West Palm a couple weeks ago. Drove past my old house in Wellington ( Paddock Park no less, when I really wanted to show off like a putz that I was ). I couldn't believe the traffic.

Nah, west coast for me. I'm spoiled now.

To get back to the original thread -

I live in Greenacres (western edge of Lake Worth) and can give you information about the area. What are you looking for?

FYI we have a 3BR, 3BA CBS townhouse for sale in a very nice, non-gated community (our business is moving north) - PM me if you'd like more information!

Good luck!
