I don't think you know Queens--which is a very large place.

you just proved I'm right.

Great Wraps isn't in Flamingo Park and Dixie and Parker are also NOT in Flamingo Park.

Flamingo Park starts at the east side of Parker and goes east to the FEC tracks (not to Dixie Hwy)

North of Belvedere to Palm Street where the neighborhood turns into Grandview Heights

Well, Laidbackhippie is technically right. I will not comment on demographics because the demographics published in the most recent census tell the tale of the composition of Flamingo Park, along with its little brother neighborhood next door, Grandview Heights, which is less gentrified than Flamingo Park. Flamingo Park is home to business people (some immensely rich who seek low key lifestyles), bohemian artists, young professionals and retirees. A great mix of people.

For the demographics you are describing, you are most likely thinking of the neighborhood directly to the south of Flamingo Park, on the other side of Belvedere (Poinciana Park), or to the West of Flamingo Park (Pineapple Park).

Those neighborhoods are not really "bad"... just lower income and maybe with different ethnic compositions than some people may prefer.

You answered this post having never been to the Hospital but you spew "facts" about how bad the area is ??? You very obviously have NO IDEA where JFK hospital is ..... do you?

JFK is in a fine area. You while have NO problem in that area whatsoever.

The VA, again is fine and there is NO threat of any trouble there either.

Jees, where do these people get their info........????

LOL! easy killer. So much for "laid back hippie". Did I not say: Not sure about JFK but looks to be in the center lake worth?

Sorry he asked for somethings safe I never considered lake worth that safe next to I 95. I stand corrected.

I've lived in Lake Worth over 30 years and JFK is close to I-95. What, like 2 miles? 3?
Straight up 6th Ave. South. Get off I-95, pass some streets then pass John Prince Park & the college, take a left past Wendy's and drive a half mile and you're there.

What do you thing of Lantana? IS the City Place area very expensive? Im thinking in something between $800-1000, and will love to have fun places to go when Im off, besides of the beach.
I highlighted the truth for ya. Come on down, go to JFK and ask your peers for good information on housing. They will steer you in the right direction.

Some people make WPB sound like it's a total zombie war zone 24/7. I've been here for 17 years and have done repair work in all the bad neighborhoods and have never had a incident.

All I can add is stay off of Broadway at night unless you are looking for drugs or a date.

Best of luck, JFK is a quality Hospital. Found myself there in the Cath lab a few times.

Hi mdless!!!
I actually finished residency 2 years ago. Palm beach area is great to do your training. I am actually practicing in the fort myers area. I have afriend who is a hospitalist at the V.A, and she teaches residents, so you are for sure going to meet her. Ok, palm beach area is a great place to live, its safe, and this is real important. I am pretty sure the V.A hosp is like 20 mins from wellington. its pretty close, and the traffic is not bad at all. I would chose wellington, palm beach gardens is also real nice place. I will try to find some apartment names to give you......city place is real far, about 40 minutes with traffic..... its the place to go to have fun when you're off.

The city place area is really expensive, will be very difficult to me to afford that!! Still in training not a real doctor yet lol!!!

Yep, sounds right to me, been here since 1964.... and love it.
Palm Beach County is as safe as most places, and more reasonably
priced than many. And the convenience of the facilities for shopping,
banking, and other necessities is making life easier, with the high gas
prices we all are dealing with.
There are plenty of options when it comes to rental properties.
Especially right at this time of year, it's off season. & the prices
go back down. (Landlords know the locals won't pay what they
charge tourists!)
You will find no place better when it comes to the weather.
We do have a little bit of everything to offer everyone in Florida, but
it is definitely the kind of place that either you like it, or you don't.
Florida is very easy to love if you like, hot weather, salty air, sand, and
the color GREEN, cuz it's pretty green year round down here.
You've always got places to go to as far as entertainment, and night life, and places like downtown Lake Worth, and Bryant Park, as well as City Place and Flagler and Clematis Street, which offer this, are all within 20 minutes travel time. ( From your JFK-or-The VA Hospital )
Plus you are only a 1/2 hour away from all night entertainment at places like
Hard Rock Casino, and many clubs and bars along the strip in Broward County.
You've got beaches, and deep sea fishing, you've got fresh water fishing and camping, woods for hiking, and are 3 1/2 to 4hrs from Disney World and Universal Studios.
Palm Beach County is the Gold Coast and I am sure you will find it very easy to adjust to. And the people here are very open, very up front, we have a very mixed population, and the feelings are a sort of "live and let live" to each there own.
Over the years it has kind of evolved into a melting pot.
Welcome To Florida........
