For what it's worth, I would welcome the introduction of previously extinct species, but it's easy to see why they went extinct in the first place, and it certainly wasn't stupidity, because there was a blatant disregard for anything back then - that was just the mindset. It was a period of exceptional growth and industrialisation, without which we would not be the country we are today.
Its very easy to see why the animals where extinct, true but its also quite easy (if the UK government puts its mind to it) to bring back the lost wilderness of the UK. Its very plausible to reintroduce animals. One example is the Lynx, they can easily be reintroduced into Most if not all large forested areas of the UK even in Southeast England!

The main problem with this Country is that we now associate the rolling generic farmland and Moorland with natural countryside which is the opposite of the truth. Virtually all used land needs to be converted to Forest and wetland but that will never ever happen if we don't have a balanced ecosystem. Lynx is perfect to balance the ecosystem by hunting the destructive red and roe deer.

Exactly they think brown moorland is natural. Even if they left a bit of the National park to just grow it wouldn't because the deer would simply eat all the small shoots which they are doing already. What they need to do is reintroduce an animal like the Lynx to control deer numbers.

I hate landscapers and their noise. Why do they spend so much time making a racket to cut a lawn down to 0.1" and making it overmanicured? It's not even for a nice garden just grass.
