Happy to be ending 2011 and starting 2012 in good health after a terrible bout of illness this time last year. Didn't fully recover until the end of summer.

Have a happy and healthy new year!

Happy to have had a glorious day at Newcastle's Nobbys Beach today, the first taste of summer in over a month.
Atmosphere and crowd for the New Years day was very upbeat.
Water temperature was balmy, should have brought my thermometer with me as it felt like about 23C, and air temp at the beach was 25.5C.

Happy to have just seen a rainbow, framed against a red sky from the setting sun. Probably the biggest rainbow I've ever seen as well. Way cool.

Not so happy about the heavy rain advisory, although there is talk of thunder.

Happy that the river is about 1.5m/4.5ft higher than is usual at this time of the year. It is still just as clear though, although a little colder also. 18-19C/64-66F today, but it's easy to hope in on days like today. Not a bad trade off.

I have to be fair, so, since i know im gonna be complaining 90% of summer about heat and horrid hot weather and sticky nights, i have to be fair now and say its a LOVELY summer night here in BA. Cool, with a cool breeze, not uncomfortable at all. Only 21 celsius, with a breeze (feels like less) and really comfortable to be outside.

Funny, we'll be average to below average here as well. There might be a flash freeze tonight with rain ahead of a powerful cold front. Strong winds and maybe some snow are possible.

Fri: 3/-5
Sat: 0.5/-11
Sun: -4.5/-11.5
Mon: 0.5/-3.3

There's a slight dusting on the ground now. At least the little snow that will fall here won't melt until Monday.

It's so amazing to see the sun again since so long, even though it's cold and frosty it still gives a nice spring feel to the weather. Thank God for sun.
