If anyone is there, photos please of your frost or report if you get any! I noticed that some areas are forecasted to be as cold as 32°!

This is still August and I know that cold comes early up there, but isnt this well before the average time for frost even up there?

That area does get frost early ( although not quite this early)

In 1974 we ( central Minnesota) had a killing frost on Sept 1.

That is the earliest I can remember for us.

^^^^No thank you lol.

I hope frost never comes to the East Coast again.

I hope a ridge of heat builds and comes this way.

Same for northern Wisconsin, number of counties included in this warning is unusual and early!

TEMPERATURES ACROSS CENTRAL AND EAST-CENTRAL WISCONSIN WILL NOT BE
QUITE AS COLD...BUT COULD DROP FAR ENOUGH TO ALLOW PATCHY FROST TO
FORM. THE ONLY LOCATIONS THAT WILL BE SAFE FROM FROST ARE THOSE CLOSE
TO THE SHORE OF THE LAKE AND THE BAY.

SINCE THIS IS UNUSUALLY EARLY TO HAVE A FROST AND AT LEAST SEVERAL
MORE WEEKS OF GOOD GROWING WEATHER ARE EXPECTED...ANYONE WITH
COLD-SENSITIVE PLANTS MAY WISH TO PROTECT THEM TONIGHT. THE BEST
WAY TO PROTECT PLANTS IS TO COVER THEM...OR BRING THEM INTO A
GARAGE OR SHED IF POSSIBLE.

Tennessee, I'm so glad you started a thread about this. TWC actually talked about it quite a bit last night and that's unusual. They even showed the weather map where a HUGE portion of the country was going to be WELL below avg. temps for several days and of course, Mn. was one of those states. They even had the projected minuses on the map and it wasn't purdy.

Mn. is WAY too close to me so I didn't like that news at all. They did say that International Falls would probably be the coldest and that's pretty normal.

It's kinda weird up this way. Who'd think it could actually freeze in Aug. BUT I do remember that western So. Dak. has had snow as late as June 5th. It could be even later, but that's the date I personally remember. Oh, and we had sleet that same day.

I am in Duluth...actually outside of Duluth, in one of the "inland locations" that is forecasted to get between 33 and 38 tonight, though not as far north as the line referenced.

Indeed, August frosts are very rare here. At the Duluth airport the lowest temperature I can find for any August date is 32F (0C) on 27 August 1986.

As for first frosts in recent years....

The Duluth International Airport (on the hill):

May 27th, 2008 - October 3, 2008
May 20th, 2007 - September 12th, 2007
May 22nd, 2006 - October 10th, 2006
May 16th, 2005 - October 6th, 2005
May 15th, 2004 - October 1st, 2004
May 3rd, 2003 - September 28th, 2003
May 20th, 2002 - September 24th, 2002
April 27th, 2001 - September 24th, 2001
June 5th, 2000 (if 32 doesn't count, than May 19th) - September 23rd, 2000

So, generally, we don't see frost conditions until at least late September.

The Sky Harbor airport (about 8 miles away on Park Point) has a much longer average growing season length, with <32 temperatures sometimes coming not until November.

Duluth also got below 32F on September 1st, 1974, 30F to be exact. Don't know if it was a killing frost, though.
