No AC in summer (though might use a fan for 85+ - though in London we only get 3-4 days of 85+)
Central heating set to 55 in winter.

Actually, a cold drink of water is usually all I need to refresh myself if it's 79 F and say 65% humidity inside.
(caused by an outdoor dewpoint of 68-70 F?)
Then you would be happy in Paris, ColdCanadian : when the day air temperature is 80°F as it is right now, the thermostats in most airconditioned places and public transport- when they are airconditioned, which is not always the case- is set on...no, it's not a joke...80°F!
so one sweats as much inside than outside.
But here they are experts on saving money to the expense of the common folk, and if you are not happy, they will answer from their chilly airconditioned offices and limousines : "didn't you hear of climate change? didn't you hear it's not responsible to turn the airconditioned cold only for you underdog to be comfortable?"

Sorry to hear about your personal discomfort,
but yeah, for this underdog "air-conditioned cold" usually means discomfort.

Same thing with our abundance of street lighting; no shadows can be found on any roads.
In that area too, it would be nicer if our cities "couldn't afford that."
(better looking night skies )

55°F... maybe you mean 65? 55°F is just under 13°C.

I live in the Netherlands, and here 65-68°F in winter, and sometimes 75 or 76°F in summer.

If I could get a better isolated apartment and/or income, I would set the central heating at 68-70°F in winter and do not have to use it in summer.

Ha. I'd prefer 80 degrees often to what they set the A/C on in most places. My feet are getting numb in my office right now. I skimmed the quote at the end and misunderstood the meaning was confused. I saw chilly air conditioned offices and limos and thought of discomfort while the masses were comfortable.

Back then when I had an apartment I kept it set at 71 degrees in the Florida heat now where I live the landlord has it set at 78 degrees, I burn up at night, thank God for cheap walmart box fans, beleive me I have that thing reved up at night, but I still get hot..... that is when I quietly get out of bed and set that thing to 76 degrees then I get up around 6 just to set it back at 78 degrees so that this landlord does not gripe about it.....
