Torch generally means low temperatures are far warmer than high temperatures relative to average.

Low temperature of 57F tonight is around 21F above average for this time of year, whereas the 72F high temperature today is around 14F above average.

Any cold fronts will only bringing temperatures down closer to average.

We're going to be in serious drought territory pretty soon. No rain in sight and it's been over a month, easily.

2pm temps Midway hit 70 degrees. ORD is at 69F and here 67F under sunny skies and gusty winds

Cooler temps closer to normal by Thursday/Friday

Might see some cold at the very end of the forecast cycle with the MJO phase going towards 1 or 8 but this is looking more of a western US cold shot

Heavy showers have been continuing. And just 1 min ago transitioned to heavy hail, the first hail of the year here. Starting to transition back to rain though.

Temperatures not as much above average here - high of 52F is only 7F above average. The forecast low of 44F for tonight will be 12F above average.

Wednesday is supposed to be 34F all day here, which is about as much below average as today will be above average.

I've gotten Thunder in winter from both snow and rain storms but probably your last for you.
I see a 994mb Low in Ontario right now but its so far from you. I guess the thunder you heard is from a cold front

From NWS Buffalo

Quote:
National Weather Service Buffalo NY
230 PM EST Mon Nov 6 2023

A relatively deep storm system will pass by well to our north
tonight.

A 995mb low over Lake Superior early this evening will track
eastward to Quebec overnight while pushing the first of two cold
fronts through our forecast area. This will allow for some
showers...and even an isolated thunderstorm or two (mainly west of
Genesee valley)...but a noticeable increase in winds will be the
main impact. While this will NOT be a high wind event...a 55kt low
level jet in the warm sector ahead of the first cold front will
partially mix down to promote southerly sfc wind gusts that will be
in the vcnty of 35 to as high as 40 mph. Parts of the Finger Lakes
and Southern Tier could experience locally higher gusts due to
funnelling in the north to oriented valleys.

Ya seen nothing yet my man. This is gonna go on past my lifetime as the summer pattern is gone for good for at least 3400 years. Nothng but a west flow all summer but for you it won't effect you as much since you are inland. But anyone half a mile or closer to the gulf is just never gonna get the rain like you will see 2 to 50 miles inland without a east flow. Last 6 winters have been dead dry and i see nothing for months.

There is no El Nino for us. I have not had a drop in over 2 months and see none till June if then.
