Overcast here as well. Birds chirping away, sound of rivers flowing. The front is sitting from Maine to Texas. Temps in low 70s here. I'll take it. Love these breaks. Makes summer tolerable.
New run of GFS shows massive Ridge in the Midwest in 10 days time. Yesterday it showed a deep trough. Kirk says that the new run fits the evolving pattern. Hope he is right

Last summer and 2016 were both decent with at or above normal temps and 90 degree days. If i recall last summer there were 27 at Midway airport. Nothing to write home about but way better summers then 2013,14, and 15'
This summer is far from over but I have to admit after being extremely disillusioned during the first 3 weeks of June, things have turned around for the better. Midway airport as of yesterday has an average high of 88.2F. IKK which is close to my home has an average high of 88.3F, with a mean that's +3 4F above average so far this month. Big improvement after a June that ended -2.4F below average
Is this really July 23rd in northern Arkansas? Haven't had the a/c on at all today, windows and doors are open. Currently sitting at 77f, dew point 55, 47% humidity. Low 55. Nice breeze all day. Feels amazing outside.
Not super hot today with a west flow. Almost at 10" of rain.
