Area Forecast Discussion

Have maintained previous forecast the weekend storm as model
spread remains somewhat large on polar shortwave progression
around the Hudson Bay low, and eventual interaction/phasing with
vigorous PAC energy digging into the Central US. This will
ultimately affect amplitude/orientation/timing of a developing
deep eastern trough. The result will determine the track and
timing of low pressure/s developing along a strong cold front
extending down into the Gulf of Mexico. With sub-tropical
connection ahead of the trough, potential exists for heavy
precipitation next weekend into the Mid Atlantic and possibly
the local region. Sensible weather details will be dependent on
evolution of northern/southern stream interaction, and resultant
progression of cold front and track of primary low pressure.
The sensitivity of this forecast, downstream effects from
interaction of Aleutian low and wave train entering the Western
Pac, and on the northern stream from Arctic shortwave energy
rotating into northern Canada over the next 48 hrs, will likely
not be sampled well for another 2-3 days. Should see increase
confidence in the details of this part of forecast from that
point on.
I thought those regions were synonymous with each other. Oh that’s right the Midwest is a desert, never mind what I just proposed
