I grew up in CA's Mojave Desert where temps during heat waves could reach 110-115 easily. I live on CA's north coast now where locals complain about the heat when it's 80, and 80 is a pretty rare event during summer (average is between 65 and 70)

I don't miss the desert.

109 F / 43 C. It feels like an air bag hitting you in the face when you step out into it.

In the US, worst I have experienced was 107 F in Dallas, TX. Absolute worst was not the highs, but lows. The low was 84 F and dew point was 78 F that day. Very Uncomfortable. My aunt says lows in the 80's are commonplace there.

118º summer of 1997 here in Humboldt county just five miles inland from the ocean. One person died at Reggae on the River near Garberville of heat exhaustion. Fortunateley we lived in the oak forest that buffered some of the heat. We hit 100º or higher more than 20 times that summer, the following summer in 98 was a cool and foggy summer that rarely hit over 70º.

45C in Cordoba, Spain 2000 and it was actually quite bearable. Very dry heat like that is OK, especially as it was down into the low 20s at night.

Most uncomfortable heat I've ever experienced was 32-33C with 17-19 dewpoints in August 2001, in Brussels of all places- this and the following day:
