106 F in Bowling Green, KY during a heatwave . I stayed inside most of that week outside of coming and going to work!

115-ish when I was visiting Phoenix area. It was back in 2005 so I don't recall the exact temperature but I remember being surprised by the feeling of the dry heat and thinking it felt like opening an oven. I also hid inside most of the time during the day while I was there from the heat and sun but the desert is very nice at night since it cools down quite a bit.

Worst thing I've felt was one year in Syracuse, NY when I went to the NYS Fair and it got up to 91 F with a dewpoint of 77 F. People were cramming into the misting tents and even getting into the fountains to get cooled down. I'll admit to dunking myself in the fountains a few times that day It was just incredibly miserable walking around but luckily it clouded up and a thunderstorm cooled things down quite a bit.

Nope. North Carolina's all-time record is only 110F: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/U.S._s...ature_extremes

That 110 was nowhere near the coast (whereas Wrightsville Beach is). Wilmington's record max is only 103.

You're probably talking about heat index, which doesn't really count.

Las Vegas. I believe was 106°F. Don't want to experience that again. Although it wasn't humid so it was like 90s here. Still....too hot!
