Models spitting out images depicting subzero temps here should always be taken with a grain of salt imo, it’s exceedingly difficult, and likely impossible without snow cover. JFK Airport hasn’t gone below zero since 1985.
Yeah you'll definitely need snowcover. We have a couple inches and look at our temps this morming
-3F at ORD, -1F at MDW, 25 miles west -13F in Aurora (usually coldest spot in the winter)

I've noticed the forecasts have backed off from the most extreme cold, too. Usually happens. Still a very cold forecast.
Up to 20cm of snow predicted for Vancouver by tomorrow afternoon. Hopefully we avoid the transition to ZR later tomorrow.
