Err, what I meant was an above average Sep & Oct would be my dream; 67°F is more than enough. But for November even well above normal isn't warm; so I'd rather the well above normal be in September & November. But not worth it if the foliage is damaged; which is the time of year I care about most.

You getting flakes or sleet tonight?
Forecast has rain only, low of 34°F. Dewpoint is 30°F, so that combination sounds cold enough some slakes from a colder atmosphere would survive. 34°F at 1600 feet and snowing above:

here's the vertical profile via pivotalweather

profile too moist for much evaporative cooling? Dunno what that thin blue line refers to. Hourly forecast shows a slight dewpoint rise.

What a contrast to yesterday! Was 60°F all morning yesterday; thick clouds with some mist and fog covering the highest hilltops. Still a lot of vegetation left, skyscape fit with late fall. One of the few times I really enjoyed the gloomy weather

Today's high temp was 27.2°C, 0.6°C below average; and this mornings low was 18.3°C, 4.4°C above average

Currently 26.1°C with a dewpoint of 8.3°C at 5pm Mountain Time

Ahh, the soundings! Thanks for that. Not sure what the thin blue line is either. Wet Bulb?

That looks like it would be snow. The forecast might have to change if GFS is right there.
Very wet enough in the column which means falling heavy and cold enough down to about 3000'. I would throw in some flakes in the forecast based on this above 500'.

The Nov 5th had a daily record there 10° max. Last time they had a max that low for beginning of November was in 2003. Doesn't happen often but has happened.

The Avg temp of 12.3° (CRAZY) is 3rd coldest for 1st week of November.

This was their office yesterday. Doubt much melted today either.

And check this out! Inversion Visual! Coldest temp in Lower 48 this season..

Check out Uptons disco

They adjusted the forecast because of the radar
Sleet where precip was falling heavy
Pacific zonal flow at upper levels above us
Maybe 1/2" snow accumulation before precip ends away away from NYC of course

National Weather Service New York NY
701 PM EST Tue Nov 7 2017

A weak wave of low pressure moves well south and east of Long
Island through tonight.

Made some adjustments on weather and POP based on latest radar
and temperature trends. Have decreased POPs over the far
northern tier of Orange going through late this evening as
confluence zone is suppressing northern extent of precipitation.
Otherwise, just some cosmetic adjustments with precip type on
NW edge of precipitation shield to include a little more snow as
a precip type in a short window before precipitation ends. Some
IP has been reported in areas where precipitation is a bit more
intense, but expecting ptype to be mainly in the form of rain
with column moistened up now.

A Pacific jet in the upper levels
and a fast nearly zonal flow in the mid levels will be in place
through tonight. At the surface, a wave of low pressure will
approach and move well south of Long Island tonight while
deepening slightly (4-6mb). The track is projected for models to
be well southeast of the 40N/70W benchmark overnight into early
Wednesday.

Despite a little more snow as a ptype before precipitation ends
snow amounts are expected to be at most an inch, but more
likely 1/2 inch or less. Most of the region is not expected to
see snow, especially now that models are trending quicker with
precip end time in NW zones

Currently here, at Aurora, ME..36F, Dew Point 29F..Winds NNW 7MPH!...
It's mid-week of a six 10 hr work week (not including 12hrs commute)!
Arrived home barely before dark...Thankful to see, the welcoming door (the shed side), waiting for us to enter with lights glowing and lighting our path....
Many still recovering from the Big Blow...
It grieves us to see the hard earned $$$ (spent from those working 10hrs+ a day at minimum wage/$9.00), losing their investment of food in their refrigerator/freezer), lost! We are amongst those, who've acquired compassion by working and living amongst those who suffer....with hope in their hearts for tomorrow!

Overheard people discussing what the precipitation outside is. "It's not snow… it's snowrain"

Perhaps there's a better name?

map of snowrain:

it felt like very big raindrops; I'm right at the edge of the boundary so probably almost melted just above the surface.

0.61" here and still raining lightly. 39F. At 10:1 ratios this would of been a 5-6" snowstorm.

How about just '"mix drops"? Lol

Hills in Northwest CT must be seeing some flames.

Chicopee or Westfield reporting sleet now. Problem is things drying up, not much precip left as cold air is rushing in.

Did u see Binghamton earlier?

Mt Pocono in PA as well
