Experienced a very noticeable temperature inversion yesterday. Around noon the temperature was slightly above freezing. Around 7:30 pm the temperature had climbed to 8°C. All the snow that had stayed on the ground and the rooftops for the last days stared melting. For a second I thought it was raining. It was strange.

Today it is raining and all the snow is almost gone. Temperature is around 10°C.

The last couple of days as well as today has been absolutely horrific with icy westerlies that simply didn't stop screaming, even worse in wind tunnel areas
Now that evil wind is finally starting to die down which is about bloody time, BOM is forecasting a minimum of 5C in the city tomorrow (Saturday morning) with western suburbs ranging from zero to -2C.
Shaping up to be one of the worst Julys ever with never ending icy westerlies, too much sun and very low number of rain days with all but three nights dropping into single figures
Numerous complaints heard from work colleagues about how cold that westerly has been with many turning up at work wearing three to four jumpers/jackets and I've had to restore to wearing four pairs of socks because that dreadful icy westerly just cuts through you - horrible experience and even walking at top speed, my feet feels frozen. I'd happily swap this crappy icy westerly weather for milder and humid cool S-SE flows with cloud and frequent rain/showers.
Very glad I don't have to get up at 4.30am over the next two mornings and looking very forward to staying indoors with heaters on at full blast - anything to avoid going outside in such horrible windy and icy westerly conditions.
