MTD we're running below February 2017's averages. Lowest temperature only 1 degree above the February minimum. Mean max 42 F/6 C, mean min 24 F/-4 C. Not expected to rise above freezing until Friday. This is turning out to be an awesome month.
Nice. Perhaps you'll end up with a March that has an average high below 40 F?
TBH, I wouldn't mind if February/March was the coldest time of the year, as long as December/January aren't much warmer (warmer by less than 2 F lol). If April could still be a winter month that'd be cool with me too, I don't really take interest in warm weather until mid/late May.

I have a feeling there'll be some warm weather later in the month that will spoil the fun.
I completely agree with you, although it would be nice if Christmas was more reliably cold and snowy. Other than that I love when it's cold and snowy in March and April. I'm not interested in warmth until May and June.

But the fun of spring is roller coaster in temps. In all honestly I complain about the heat here alot and I am pretty jealous of this blizzard but overall consistent below freezing weather is not at all ideal for March. Up and down is great but ultimately by Mid-March I want the average high to be in the lower-mid-50's, not the 20's or 30's lol.
December: Max 37.2 Min 25.5 Mean: 31.3
January: Max 37.3 Min 25.5 Mean: 31.4
February: Max 43.9 Min 27.1 Mean: 35.5
Those would be great winter averages--above average, December the coldest month, February significantly warmer...
But then we have March. So far:
Max: 38.0 Colder than February, barely warmer than December and January
Min: 21.6 A full 4 degrees colder than December and January
Mean: 29.8 The coldest winter month by 1.5 degrees
Nothing but below average in the 10 day so not gonna get much warmer. Currently tied for 33rd coldest March, wouldn't be surprised if it cracks top 15.
Now why the f*** can't this be January or December???

Eh, I like a cold and snow March. I appreciate it more this time of the year. I wouldn't mind it as much in April and May...a few days hovering around 40 F with a cold wind and then a day or two that warms up to 60 F or so.
I swear we better get hooked up with the best April ever. 3 record cold Marches in a four year span and five straight below average Aprils at this point

It should JB thinks pattern will warm by first week of April. He also said May be "sudden summer"...
