Pretty high confidence for a ****ty mid early to mid May pattern for the Eastern US

My gut instinct is telling me no hot summer for here. Maybe humid, but with all this widespread rain, I doubt will will dry out by the summer and that will create a feedback loop where it will continue to rain.
Most of the world used the CS which is indeed a less accurate device than the Foster....
The WMO has stated the Kipp Zonnen device should be standard set at 120W2m. Our COOP observer uses both that and the traditional Foster (for record consistency) at the Midway airport site.
They told me that the differences between those two devices are minimal
The US doesn't even record sunshine anymore. Here is their reasoning
Is this even a big deal anymore in the age of google conversions?
ha ha - maybe not .
Yeah , I never realised USA stopped taking data - it would be good to convert the old readings though to say a European format for those pesky wikipedia figures - .
Maybe not what? That the CS is not an inferior device? It sure is

Not sure what figures you are talking about on Wiki? Sunshine? It's not possible to accurately convert from Foster to CS, but best guess is about a 10-15% difference in areas where there are lots of days with intermittent clouds (like Chicago or NYC) which is where the discrepancy lies.... Probably under 10% for places that see few cloudy days such as Arizona
So this pattern is stuck with us for much of May. And guess what, Bastardi said by Memorial Day the eastern US may be in a summer pattern again.... Shades of last May then??

George, don't bother. He refuses to read any of the previous conversations on this issue and hence keeps blindly repeating the same mistakes.
I think I'd snap if this May ends up anything like the last one. I don't see us being trapped in the same omega block pattern, but that doesn't mean it can't be cool and cloudy. I want warm and sunny.
Well, would you look at that?
I'm gonna keep my mouth about anything long-range from here on out.

Lol.. Im enjoying today... I feel like we should just pause for 12 hrs and soak in hese kind of days cause they are few and far between. Partly Sunny and 70s.
