Grass is so lush and vivid green. Perfect pattern for it. Full sun for 9 days straight but not so hot, cool nights, rain for like 10 days. It's loving it. If we were fully leafed out and had undergrowth grown, it would look like a jungle here.

Radar loop past 4hrs. Just another rainy night/morning. Temps near 50°.

1/4" of rain fell since 2am

Rain Totals in my backyard....

4/22: 0.03"
4/23: 0.27"
4/26: 0.42"
4/29: 0.07"
4/30: 0.01"
5/1: 0.27"
5/2: 0.03"
5/3: 0.23" so far

Not a lot but just annoying almost everyday. Overcast Day #3 begins

As we leave El Nino fast and head towards La Nina, I saw this graph this morning and said, wow, let me check how April and May 1998 was just to compare and see if there are any similarities..

Without getting too detailed...

April 1998 was above normal but it was the nights that did it. Only hit 70s twice that month. Mostly 50s and 60s which indicates clouds. Rainfall above normal.

May 1998 started off very wet and cool. 11 of 12 days had precip. It was overcast many days with temps struggling past 50s and low 60s, nighttime staying warm in the 50s

Sound familiar so far??

Then come mid May exactly 5/15/98 we started hitting 80s! Dried out but still had a couple of rainy days through end of month. We ended up above normal because we had 8 of last 15 days in the 80s!

(I don't think this May will repeat that, we'll see)

June 1998 was below normal with temps which goes with my gut. Still hit 2 90s that month. Above normal rainfall.

July 1998 slightly above normal with below normal rainfall. Everyday was above 80° except 7 of them. It rained 7 days that month.

August 1998 was above normal temps, normal rainfall.. 2 nights dropped to 40s! 2 nights stayed in the 70s!

No heat waves that Summer but a lot of 80s.

Lets come back to this post in 3 months and compare.

LAST ONE??

Interesting "dig" coming Monday morning.. GFS6z says 850mb temps over Long Island will be -3.5C. Normal is +7C. Record is -6C. So that's a cool airmass for this time of year.

Euro00z similar at -2C. Canadian not so big on the dig. But does have mountain snows. Adirondacks and Mt Washington could see some snow which isn't that rare for May but still interesting.

You and me both. We found our perfect same time pattern. I have to remind myself that even though overcast is horrible, it could easily be torching 70s and 80s so I should accept it. lol Why is it so hard to be Sunny and 50s in May?? lol

BTW ..... Playing around with AccuPro's model page, I came across 2 awesome parameters.

1. P-Type with the 1000-500 thickness! Here's Sunday night. GFS says it will snow in VT and NH and parts of Maine. 988mb Storm. 534 thickness in May is interesting.

AND....

2. Same map but with clouds! So now I can play the loop that shows clouds, precip, and thicknesses.

Looks like aside from pokes of sun around here, I have to wait until Monday for a sunny day.

After a dry few days GFS calling for loads of rain in the Midwest. If this continues, it will cast doubts into a hot summer for us.
