Freezing nights aren't stopping, low of 31°F forecast, 46°F now. Would like to have the windows open for fresh air, but temperatures dropping too much.

The warmest high on my forecast is only 87F, and that's not until the 28th so plenty of time for it to change.

I guess the ridge is centered east of here, because the forecast shows a high of only 86F for here on the 26th.

I want to put up my screen door and take the storm window down but I know better. Waiting for nights to be above 40 at least and days stay above 60. That wont safely happen till May. You have more freezing nights coming up for sure.

The Polar Jet Stream doesn't want to show signs of letting up but it is having trouble driving south each week that passes. Plus the air aloft isn't "as cold" anymore.

Wha? Umm, who has that forecast and what does it show now 12 hrs later? 80s I can see, not 90s.

Here's why...take a look at the discussion from there...

There's a trough in Eastern U.S but the base of it is going to be near your area. Whether it stops to the north of you or over you remains to be seen.

If its north of you then you have a chance at mid-upper 80s.
If its over you, kiss above 84F goodbye.
If its south of you (which it shouldn't) then your highs will be in the 70s.

This trough is swashing the Southeast ridge.

NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE RALEIGH NC
330 AM EDT WED APR 20 2016

MONDAY THROUGH TUESDAY: A DEEPENING TROUGH OVER THE EASTERN HALF OF
CANADA AND NORTHEASTERN U.S. WILL DAMPEN MID LEVEL RIDGING ACROSS
THE SOUTHEASTERN U.S. AND SEND A BACKDOOR COLD FRONT TOWARDS THE
REGION ON TUESDAY AFTERNOON/EVENING. WPC HOLDS THE FRONT TO THE
NORTH OF OUR AREA THROUGH THE FORECAST PERIOD WITH THE FRONT
BECOMING PARALLEL WITH THE MID LEVEL FLOW. HOWEVER.. SOME MEDIUM
RANGE GUIDANCE TRIES TO DRIVE THE FRONT INTO THE AREA ON TUESDAY.
AT THIS POINT WILL LIMIT POPS TO OUR NORTHERN COUNTIES AND CONTINUE
TO SHOW THE FRONT HOLDING JUST TO THE NORTH OF THE AREA. THIS YIELDS
HIGHS IN THE 80S AND LOWS OF AROUND 60.

NWS Surface map coming up Monday.. Cold front dropping south. Mid Atlantic Coastal High starts moving over.

By Wednesday front stalls. They have it near the VA/NC border. So obviously South Carolina is safely in the very warm sector. Philly north in the cooler sector.

Didn't happen. Temperatures were in the low 40s this morning but windy. Wind prevented radiational cooling. There's tommorow night for a freeze.

Didn't feel like a mild morning with the wind, though.

The Arctic death blast forecast has now been upgraded to a typical April cold spell, with 10-12c highs and 1-3c lows. Looks like seasonable conditions will return at the start of May.

Today is a typical late April day and copy of yesterday; sunny with forecast highs of 15-16c. A strong smell of cypress in the air.
