I was lucky when I was at college, I was only about an hour's drive from home.
Well, my grandparents have invited us over for dinner since they'll be in Delaware over Thanksgiving. I might lose a lot of money for college if I don't show up...

Lucky for only being an hour away? More like unlucky. It's a nuisance having to visit my parents. It's very likely that I'll be transferring to New Mexico Tech next fall if I'm awarded the out of state transfer scholarship. Great engineering school, better climate, awesome scenery, and I don't have to worry about coming home every couple weeks.

LOL. I went home about once a month, on average. It was a nice break from college, I thought.

If the grandparents are helping to pay for your college, yeah, I would say it's kinda necessary to make that drive. It's just a quick in-and-out visit, I'd not be sweating it.

But here's to hoping you get that transfer to New Mexico - that looks pretty awesome.

Lol yeah, definitely not a good idea to ignore the invitation. Though, to be fair, my grandmother has been known to have frequent drunk political outbursts during meals. She's not too fond of the far-left, I might add.

They'll be dead in a couple years anyway. That is unless Obama's death panels don't get them first.

Well then visit them while you still can. Don't forget to ask for some cash.

Indeed. Every time I see them, I greet them with "Nice to see you grandma. Can I borrow a couple hundred bucks?". I'm such a sweet grandson.

Well, of course I say borrow . An "accident" usually prevents me from giving it back.
