Upper Lows and a dipping Jet stream bring early snows to the west. Only September so should stay elevated.

Still... first snowstorm to track. get those Wyoming webcams out.

^^^^^^^^

I wonder if people are wrapping up raking and bagging leaves in Fairbanks Alaska right about now, I heard it felt more like a cold day in November here today(Fairbanks’ high temperature today wasn’t even supposed to get above 50 F typical late November weather In Indy), if you catch my drift

Barrow, AK hasn't had a freeze since June 25th. It hasn't even been below 35 F / 2 C this month! The latest first freeze on record for Barrow is September 12, in 1979.

No temperatures below 38 F / 3 C in July... average low for July is 34.8 F / 1.6 C
No temperatures below 37 F / 3 C in August... average low for August is 34.1 F / 1.2 C
No temperatures below 35 F / 2 C from Sept. 1-18... average low Sept. 1-18 is 30.6 F / -0.8 C

If I recall correctly, 2009 had the longest continuous frost-free period in Barrow's history, 68 days, July 1 - September 6 inclusive.

We're at 85 days through September 18 and counting. Forecast by Weather.com has it continuing through October 3. Is this fall for real? Barrow, AK having its first freeze in OCTOBER? Nashville's had a freeze on October 2 as late as 1984. Not to mention, the average high for Barrow drops below freezing on September 26.

2019... the never-ending summer.

Lol barrow is about to become a subarctic or even a cool summer continental climate.

An idea where the snow will fall.

The loop shows the trend of the GFS past 11 runs.

Barrow had its first freeze September 19 this year, a record latest, making 86 days frost-free. No more freezes forecast to October 6, though they may have a couple, given that some days have lows forecast at 33-34 F / 1 C. Nevertheless, this is unprecedented warmth for this time of year. It wouldn't surprise me if Barrow became subarctic; at 48.3 F / 9.1 C for a mean temperature this July, they were close.
