NWS Boston says exactly what I said regarding next weeks storm. Has to develop south more and track close to coast but right now its a close miss

Cold air will be in place unlike with this weekend storm where the cold air was old and moving out giving the ridge a chance to pop back up before the storm.

NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE TAUNTON MA
646 AM EST THU JAN 7 2016

PROGRESSIVELY COLDER TEMPERATURES ARE ON TAP FOR THE NEXT WORK WEEK.
THIS A RESULT OF UPPER LEVEL RIDING BUILDING ACROSS WESTERN NORTHERN
AMERICA AND A DEEPENING TROUGH IN THE EASTERN STATES. WHILE MON INTO
MUCH OF TUE WILL GENERALLY BE DRY...FORECAST BECOMES MORE UNCERTAIN
LATE TUE INTO WED. PRETTY STRONG SHORTWAVE WILL BE DIGGING ACROSS
THE GREAT LAKES AND TRIGGER DEVELOPING LOW PRESSURE OFF THE COAST.

DEPENDING ON HOW STRONG THE SHORTWAVE ENDS UP...WILL DETERMINE THE
AMPLIFICATION OF THE UPPER LEVEL FLOW. SO IN SHORT...IT REMAINS TO
BE SEEN IF THIS LOW PRESSURE WILL TRACK CLOSE ENOUGH TO THE COAST
AND DEVELOP SOON ENOUGH TO IMPACT OUR WEATHER. MOST CURRENT MODELS
SUGGEST MORE OF A GLANCING BLOW OR A MISS...BUT IT WOULD NOT TAKE
MUCH FOR THE SYSTEM TO TRACK CLOSER TO THE COAST WITH A LARGER
IMPACT
. NEARLY A WEEK OUT...SO THAT IS ALL WE CAN SAY AT THIS POINT

This pattern is Just a big tease..

Future radar loop.

Snow in New Mexico again.
Snow in Kansas.
Storm heading to Great Lakes.
Storm in the Atlantic.

No storms hitting the Northeast. Just fronts and a southerly flow

Clippers CANNOT come down and hit us with this pattern! And coastal storms don't seem to wanna happen.

Forumers in the southwestern US have been mixed on the consistently below average weather they've been getting. Some hate it. Others there love it.

This is killing me! The models keep flipping back and forth! I hope that Greenland Blocking will negate El Nino for the rest of this winter as it did during the 09-10' El Nino

Not east coast related... but a very intense meso-scale band of snow formed in southeastern North Dakota into parts of northwestern Minnesota Wed night into Thursday morning. A 10-20 mile wide band of 8 to 14 inches.

January 6th/7th Winter Storm Summary (preliminary)
Fascinating. Thanks!

So looks like there are 4 Events coming up next 10 days.

Euro12z showing the GLC, Clippers, & a coastal runner. 17th looks interesting! But how many times have we said that!? Although having an active Sub Tropical Jet is the way to go if you want chances.

But according to this.. we got...

Rain
Light Snow
Light Snow/Snowstorm for Maine..
Heavy Rains Coast, Snowstorm Ohio Valley.

13th is interesting too because a clipper phases with the coastal storm and blows up in time for Maine to get a snowstorm... Too far north for points south!

Anyone notice anything happening right now?

Look off the Mid Atlantic Coast... It's going OTS, not affecting us, some saying could be the 1st ever January Sub Tropical Storm.

More importantly guys .......... its the look of the potential for winter storms going forward.. Get Arctic interaction and a storm coming up the coast... BOOM.

Pattern DOES favor snowstorms, just have to get the right timing and setup for where ever you are
