Today it's dry by our standards. Dew Point is only 64 F (18 C) right now. Temperature is 86 F (30 C). Doesn't really feel noticeably dry, but doesn't feel humid either.
By time that line gets here the sun will be setting and so we lose that instability. We'll see if that line holds.
Storms always seem to get here after 4pm. Always in PA in the afternoon.

lol, of course it does but its not all about them today. Shortwave coming through. As I said, we get storms with low dewpoints and so does the rest of the country.

Cool, so we're getting a storm when its dry here. lol jk.
But we wouldn't have gotten the band if it weren't for the high dew point.
?? Wha? How do you figure? That's like saying we don't get these fronts/short waves/bands coming across with dewpoints below 50. Far from the truth. Dew points nothing to do with todays rain/storms.
Today is about the Low Level Jet, Instability (because of surface heating) and a cold front pushing across. It's a front guys.
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE NEW YORK NY
220 PM EDT WED MAY 27 2015
A COLD FRONT WILL APPROACH FROM THE WEST TONIGHT
BIG QUESTION IS HOW FAR AND HOW STRONG THESE STORMS WILL SURVIVE INTO THE MARINE LAYER IN PLACE OVER NYC...LONG ISLAND AND MOST OF SRN CT.
