still huge amounts of snow in the higher elevated parts of the north.

In Västerbotten and Norrbotten mountains it is 300% more snow than what it usually is in this time of the year, according to SMHI. It's probably not what long-distance visitors expected.

I would say it would be possible to form a glacier in Scotland if we got a succesive of cold summers. Look how much snow there is, that will not melt for the next winter snow.

Fire risk isn't that bad right now, but it has worsened in the South Okanagan. Will get worse with almost no rain in the forecast along with extreme heat in the next two weeks.

It would take a lot more snow that that to form glaciers. The photo is really just snow lingering into early summer. Much the same look as here in early summer.

Except below 4,000 feet. How much snow do you need for a glacier?

It's a similar look to here above 5000ft.

The snow amount really depends on the temperature, but most regions in NZ that are glaciated, have average snowfall above 20m/60ft.

That photo really doesn't have any features that indicate snow turning to ice under it's own weight. It's just an early summer snowpack, that looks like it will probably dwindle away to just about nothing.
