Yep, was living in Henry County at the time (about 30 minutes south of Atlanta).
I remember it was so hot and dry that the grass turned brown and leaves were changing colors early. And me being stupid and young back then I thought it was a sign that fall was coming, boy was I wrong.
Since Henry County was more rural back then, we didn't get a low above 80 F or so. I think I remember one morning walking to the bus stop and it was exactly 80 F at 7 AM. That day went up to 104 F or so. I think it might be the same day you're talking about.
That Summer and early Fall was hell. I remember in early October it was still in the mid-upper 80s on most days. It didn't really start cooling off until about October 10 or so.
Yeah, that was a rough time for sure. That's why I'm so paranoid of drought - it was awful seeing Atlanta being turned into a desert at the time. I honestly believed that the climate had gone haywire. I didn't think we'd ever get a decent rain again...lol.
Rainfall since June 1st. Currently below average here for month to date rainfall at 1.84 inches (normal month to date is 3.60 and normal total for June is 5.10 inches.)
Unfortunately, it looks like we're getting much of that on Saturday. Why couldn't it all come during the week instead?!

Same here. That damn High Pressure was parked right over Eastern Alabama during that time, killing any chances of convection for the Atlanta area. I do remember the entire South being in a drought that year. There was even a town in Tennessee that ran out of running water. I can't remember the name at the time.
That's why I'll always take hot and humid over hot and dry. Nothing is worse than heat and drought, IMO.
579 DAM down to NC. It's really tough for it to dig any farther. It's happened but though. 540 line is the typical rain/snow line. Lol that's still up in northern Hudson Bay. 570 heights would be cold for here end of June. So yeah, pretty interesting dig coming... How long it lasts is another thing.
Like ILMC90 said..even low 70s would be awesome to have. I might be in mid-upper 60s most of day.

Since I posted earlier, the forecast was "downgraded" (more like an upgrade IMO ) to a high of 67 F/19 C on Sunday.
We have 97 F predicted for us on Monday (according to TWC). With a low of only 80 F.
I think that's quite rare, even for Miami.
I'm not a fan of that kind of hell, but on the other hand I do like to personally witness rare weather events.
