Another interesting temperature statistic is our complete lack of 85+ degree days so far. The average first 85 is April 14. However, the latest is May 20, so we still have time before it becomes something too impressive.
In my hometown of Winston-Salem, it's in the upper 40's at the moment. We're at 76. Crazy! Amazing what a wedge can do.

Very humid here too, feels like Florida. Gonna try to go another night without the AC since I've got such a good streak going. Looks like I'll be able to keep it off most of next week too.

Nice stats!

yeah, Euro showing some late spring warmth starting next Sunday. The heat from the central U.S shifts to the East.

Status quo till then with 30s/40s for lows and 50s/60s for highs for this region.

Here's latest Euro12z for next Monday May 4th. The purples are mid to upper 70s which goes all the way up to Canada and into southern New Hampshire. 80s for parts of Mid Atlantic

I like not seeing 90's on that map, not even in Florida. What's the precip / cloud cover situation look like for that date?

I've got no complaints with 70's in May - I only start getting ornery when its above 80.

24hr precip. Looks like a front about to come across, I'll probably be begging for it if I do get into the upper 70s. LOL

Here's a 4 panel cloud cover projection for 7pm that day. Looks like a very warm sunny day for most in the East. Lots of High clouds in the south.

Good to see that too. Having cloud cover and the associated rainfall becomes increasingly important as we go into May.

What I truly dread once May 1st hits is the prospect of "blue skies of death" - when the sun beats down unmercifully from a blue dome sky for day after day, week after week. Pure torture.

There has only been one 85F+ day here so far this year - March 17 which reached 86F. So far in April it hasn't been past 84F.

However, tomorrow the forecast high is 90F. Then on Tuesday it may not even reach 70 (NWS shows 69F and TWC shows an impressive 64F.) The record low max for that date is 67F.
