I'm really hoping for fully overcast skies this afternoon to keep highs below freezing. Please, cloud up fast.

Cold morning across Chicagoland. If we had a snow pack on the ground we would be in business

2014 exits cold, windy; 2015 opens with more moderate chill; northbound Gulf system could impact the weekend and tug bitterly cold arctic air in the Heartland… | Chicago Weather Center: Skilling's Forecast and Chicago Severe Weather Alerts

Still very cold by next Wednesday according to GFS 18z upgrade

Wow, that actually looks really beautiful. I look forward to some snow in winter, just not too much. I hope we get some coming up next week. I'm supposed to go skiing with my friends in the Poconos. Always a blast skiing there, though the hills aren't much.

Sunday Storm Update... Kiss of death.

Latest GFS continuing my thoughts and the theme.

GFS12z Sounding for Danbury,CT.

7pm Saturday on left showing atmosphere still Dry.
Middle image By 10pm its snowing hard.
Right image By 1am its Raining with temps in the 40s.

Then by 1pm temps are in the 50s with the storm over the Death Lakes surging warm air into the northeast.

So basically GFS says it snows hard between 7pm-midnight in Danbury then it starts to warm up and rains overnight and temps continue to warm up into the 50s during the morning/day. 60s up to Philly?

Cold day across most of the country and Snowing in S Nevada/West Arizona right now. You can see why. CutOff Low down there.

Current temps, radar and 500mb heights.

I see a 10 inch snow report from Riverside County California. Power is out.
