I noticed the same thing, and now what do you know the sheep that we call the people of this country are all acting like it's something new. I heard a few people mention it today here (comments such as "the polar vortex needs to go away" )
The ignorance of people never fails to disappoint me.
It does need to go away lol, away from here at least. But I was surprised to keep seeing "polar vortex" everywhere, I wonder how this started.
Lunch time Temps with Satellite in NorthEast. Some areas with full sun. Beautiful cold clouds over Atlantic.
What an awesome day! Still wearing the same thing I wear at 20° not feeling the cold. (just my hands) Long Sleeve and Hooded Sweatshirt with Jeans and 1 pair of socks. No jacket. No scarf. Walked my dog for half hour. Didn't bother her either. 10°F, Wind Chill of -8°F, Winds Gusting from West 30mph.
I could do without it. I moved to a southern state because I HATE the freaking cold. This morning's low was 11 when the normal is around 35. That's just ridiculous. It makes you wish Mother Nature was someone you could shoot in the head.
Beyond just annoying, it caused much of the pipes in our house to freeze. Most are now back up, but the one extra bathroom still hasn't come back online. So far I see no blown water pipes, it's probably just a matter of it thawing out as was the case in the other rooms, but still, it's a hassle I could do without.
If I wanted Montana weather, I'd MOVED to Montana. The reverse is true too--if I hated hot weather and moved to Montana to get away from it, I'd be ticked if it got up to 100 degrees in July if the normal was 75-80 or so. The heck with variety--give me the NORMALS for a region, not this roller coaster nonsense.
Since 4am BDR (CT Coast) hasn't gone above 12°F, the Top 10 coldest low max is 13F. That means today would of been a Top 10 coldest day on record for any month.
Unfortunately at midnight it was mid 20s. So it ruins the daily low max record and the charts with highs and lows and it wont even be near the Top 10 coldest on paper.
^ Yeah, I hate that too. That happened here last Friday: the coldest temperature of the day, 23, was recorded after midnight, whereas temps in the daytime would have otherwise remained in the teens. Luckily it was colder here at midnight today, so currently the high for the day is 12.. hoping that doesn't rise any more.
