Oh my!!! Mexico sounds like it has my kind of temps, too.

It is 20 degrees with a windchill of 10. AND that's above. A warm up is on the way and it's supposed to be 37 degrees here today.

had a max of 97 in Melbourne yesterday. Overnight min was 75ºF and forecast for today is 100 and sunny.

Brief cooling to mid-high 70's mid week then more 100+ heat towards the weekend

Right now in Washburn, Maine it is 19*F which is 46 degrees warmer than it was this morning. Supposed to be very nice tomorrow with sunshine and almost 30 F. Sunday is going to be another great day, sunshine and 40 ... above! Can't beat that this time of year.

Very normal. Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth record higher max temps in summer and Sydney and Brisbane have the warmer winters.

Question: When you say Summer and Winter are you talking about the same time as here. Or are you flipping the coin here?

That's really weird. I thought Brisbane would be warmer since it's closer to the equator. Same with Perth. Is there a shift in the winds in the summer that bring warmer weather that far south to Adelaide and Melbourne? They are pretty far from the equator. I kinda figured Perth was hot because my geography teacher told me it's really dry and it's almost like a desert there. I would probably move there if I moved to Australia. Or Surfers Paradise.

Well Melbourne is at the same latitude as San Francisco for example, which by north american and european standards isnt exactly far from the equator.

Perth isn't a desert by any means, with an average anuual rainfall of 800mm there.

Brisbane and Sydney tend to get winds off the ocean predominantly, therefore limiting their summer maximums. Anything above 32-33ºC/ low 90's F is relatively rare (although Brisbane records higher average max temps than both Syd and Mel), but there are occasional outbursts of heat. On the other hand Adelaide, Melbourne and Perth on the other hand frequently get winds from the desert, resulting in higher absolute maximum temps.

Look at this December 2007 temps for Sydney, Melb and Brisbane:
Sydney

At the current moment (almost 1:30 AM), it's 29 out. Not as "bitter" as the past few nights. This probably will be our coldest week of the winter as we've had maybe 3 consecutive mornings in the mid teens.

What I'd do for 101 degrees right now. I love my heat...I can deal with the cold, so long as it's not windy...but I love my heat!
