Ha, my 4 day ban is now over so I can comment on this thread...

Here a few different places in my province. Notice that the length of the frost-free period shrinks very rapidly in the south, but doesn't change much over northern part of the province.

For Victoria (48N) it never happens.

For Vancouver (49N) it never happens.

For Kelowna (50N) it is from October 23rd to April 9th.

For Kamloops (51N) it is from November 5th to March 24th.

For Kleena Kleene (52N) it is from September 24th to May 12th.

For Quesnel (53N) it is from October 17th to April 23rd.

For Prince George (54N) it is from October 15th to April 23rd.

For Smithers (55N) it is from October 18th to April 25th.

For Fort St John (56N) it is from October 16th to April 21st.

For Fort McMurray, Alberta (57N) it is from October 8th to April 27th

For Dease Lake (58N) it is from September 28th to May 20th.

For Fort Nelson (59N) it is from October 2nd to April 29th.

For Watson Lake, Yukon (60N) it is from September 29th to May 10th.

It doesn't happen in Portland. Vancouver's average lows in December and January are around 32F. Maybe 12/15-1/15? It's hard to say when it's 32F right on the nose.

In my made up place, it's something like 12/1-3/3. Right at the beginning of December through the first few days of March.

January only but we get plenty of frosts so this is not a good measure for me and my climate.

Castlederg climate information - Met Office

Slightly colder here in winter, although I think Owen gets more snow. 54 Frost's per year. Maybe a week or so below 0C in January with the monthly average being 0.8C.
I live in York though, so my lows are a bit higher than this station.

Wow for once your guess actually matched up/was less extreme than the actual data. I am pleasantly suprised

Thanks. There are 39 air frosts here, and a coldest monthly minimum of 1.3, so probably too warm for even a short period with a freezing average minimum.

That's right on the coast though. Places inland from here and still at low altitude get around 70-80 air frosts a year, and 2-3 months of below freezing average lows.

Similar to here. There are 119 ground frosts on average, nd there are usually a few light ones during summer.
