Local Chicago weather geeks are now flooding the twitter feeds and weather blogs of a possible monster storm Sunday/Monday. WAY too early imho, but would be not only icing on the cake, but a cherry on top of what has been a dynamite winter here
I am assuming that 42 F reading in West Virginia is an error.
Well, as Chicagogeorge has pointed out, it is too early to say whether such a scenario pans out or not, but I have noticed the last several runs of the GFS model have been hinting at the possibility of a Major Winter Storm for the March 2nd/March 3rd timeframe, and since I am fed up with winter here in Indianapolis(We have had although not as much snow as further north still the snowiest winter on record in Indianapolis with 51.9 Inches of the White Stuff), and the last several runs of the American Model have been putting out anywhere from .50 to 1.25 inches of liquid equivalent, which if this all feel as snow could give Indianapolis anywhere from 6 to 12 inches of Additional snow, and this would make it the snowiest year on record, since the old record is 58.2 inches set back in the 1981-82 season. If this forecast verifies then Indianapolis would end up tying or breaking that record. Enough Already!! By the Way, Accuweather's 45 day weather forecast is barely managing to spit out just a few 60 Degree Days for the Indianapolis area and those aren't even supposed to occur until Indianapolis's average first 70 degree day(around March 15th give or take a couple of days). Maybe we won't even get to enjoy a spring season or a summer season:angry:.
Yup, and us here in Indianapolis look to be getting the worst kind of winter precipitation(ice), well at least that would be progress as Freezing rain occurs at warmer ambient temperatures than snow or sleet. but those temperature anomalies through early-mid march don't look promising at all and that really p#sses me off. Accuweather has pushed back any hopes of cracking the 40 Degree Mark through at least March 10th now in Indianapolis and our average first 70 Degree Day in Indianapolis is likely a few days earlier than it is in Chicago. Oh well, the event is still almost a week out and a lot can change between now and then.

All 3 main models have a major snowstorm all the way to here. We'll see if it continues. Philly was al rain on the latest GFS though
A look at the Jet Stream (300mb) winds. Over 110kts streaking through.
