It might not melt. How long is the time between the last snow and the first. If it only reaches 19c for a day then there will still be some left.

I know how you feel, its currently snowing and lying higher up but the snow will not last because its going to rise to 8c tomorrow to fall back down to snow territory for the rest of the week. Pointless.

Christmas Eve morning temps look viciously cold.

Ugh, George, you poor kid, that looks awful. I have cousins in your city and Wheaton, but they are very well insulated

George, care to distribute some of your negative cold to NY & NJ. We are only getting a low of 21 F on Christmas eve night. What a Fail .

I haven't really been following British weather much recently as it has been so boring compared to what I've been reading about on here. Turns out Scilly has not gone below 6.4C so far this month and is still holding an average as high as 10.4C! Parts of Scotland too have been giving their October averages a run for their money, never mind what they'd usually get/did get in November.

What should help melt most of the snow in many parts of the northern USA might be the fact the not will daytime temps warm - but evening temps will stay mild:

Right now places like NYC are still near 45 F...this time of night that's more like a late March temp:

I'm willing to bet that if this weekends storm is more of a rain producer then a snow producer, which would melt our snow pack, there is now way that temps would be as low as the Euro suggests

I hope so, with the snow sliding off the roof there is easily two feet of snow out there now around the perimeter of my house.

Great photo Cambium, where did you take that? I remember cruising around the Norwalk reservoir for a shortcut.
