This is going to be the first May since 2010 that the dewpoint didn't exceed 68F here.
It's common for end of May to get muggy but do you see 70+ much?
Also good to note this station is at the airport and although closer to the water there isn't much vegetation around. So I think that's why areas just inland more was getting low 70s. (71-74)
Then again LaGuardia did as well. Either way... it's not that often we get to 70 in May!

At LEX the max was exactly 70F the past 3 years. It happened once in 2014 and twice in 2013 and 2015. Interesting that the only other year in Bridgeport was 2012, since that's the last time we didn't hit 70 in May.

I remember some muggy days in late May, last year. Didn't realize it lasted that long. Feels like more this year after it being so cool before

Whoa. Interesting!

I happened to check the surface map for the last time we hit 70+ dews here in May and sure enough... not only the Bermuda High is there but ... a Tropical storm hitting the southeast as well. Same as this year with Bonnie hitting SC.
And Just throwing this out there... Current Water temps. That Bermuda High is a killer for us on the East coast.
And the departures. Actually below normal off North Carolina but check out off Virginia to NY coasts
Guess why the dewpoints are in the muggy 60s still across Long Island and Coastal NJ, NY, CT, RI, MA.
The answer lies within the arrows which are the surface winds.
Wish I lived just 5 miles inland more. lol DP 53 in Danbury, 64 in Bridgeport. 60 IMBY
Stalled front at the coast. What else is new

A weak cold front moves south of Long Island this afternoon then
washes out south of the area. A second cold front moves through
this evening, followed by high pressure building down from
southeast Canada through Thursday.
The cold front is now moving across area of Long Island and
eastern Connecticut. Mostly sunny skies are being observed behind
the front.
Model consensus take this front just south of the area where it
washes out by afternoon. Afternoon seabreezes are already being
observed and should continue through the day.

.SYNOPSIS...
A frontal boundary will stall over the area today before dissipating
late tonight into Wednesday morning. High pressure builds in from
eastern Canada Wednesday and Thursday. A cold front will approach
from the west Thursday night and move through the Mid-Atlantic
region on Friday.
A weak cold front is dissipating across the area late this
morning and is along the i-95 corridor. Some cu development across
the Delmarva and srn NJ points to where the richer sfc moisture is
beginning to mix out with the sun. Sct showers will probably
develop across srn Delaware later this afternoon, so we will
continue with the low chc/slgt chc pops for these areas. The
temps/dew point and winds grids are mostly ok too. Wind direction
is rather variable across the Delaware Valley. Generally
srly/serly winds further south and mostly north or northeast
across ern pa and nrn nj. wind speeds mostly 5 to 10 mph.
