Hey, so this is a thread-idea of me. I think that i will be cool, if we collect the coldest and warmest climate of every country (at least every country, which provides enough data)... I know that this will be very hard and the aim is certainly not to achieve completeness, but nonetheless i still think we could try to find as many locations as possible.... so what do i mean by "climate" and by "warmest" and "coldest"...? By saying "climate" I actually mean ensured data of an inhabited place in a country. This can be a big city or a 10-person hamlet, but it has to be inhabited year-round and it shouldn't be some kind of research station or something like that. The definition of warmest and coldest varies pretty heavily and so i think that it would be good to collect as many "warmest" and "coldest" location as we can find by considering different aspects... The most obvious criteria would certainly be the average year temperature, but I think it would be almost better to look also at the average (high) temperatures of the warmest months and the average (high) temperatures of the coldest months... So, maybe this is a stupid idea cause it's definetely very complex, but since I already looked for some data, I'll be satisfied to share it with you and I at least invite you to share your knowledge about the coldest and warmest places of a specific country with us, or if you're in the mood even do some research on it...
So, what i found until now is basically this (of course the period, in which the data was observed, has to be stated):
Warmest annual mean temperature: United Kingdom: Isles of Scilly (12.0°C, 81-10)
Coldest annual mean temperature:

Austria: Vienna (21.7°C, 1971-2000)... but since that is maybe due to inner-city-warming-effect, I also looked for the second warmest, which is Neusiedl (20.4°C, 71-00) France unsure data: Marseille (24.8°C) Germany: Karlsruhe (20.6°C, 81-10) Iceland: Kirkjubæjarklaustur (11.2°C, 61-90) Norway: Oslo and Tönsberg (17.3°C, 61-90) Sweden: Stockholm and Eskilstuna (17.2°C, 61-90) Switzerland: Lugano (22.1°C, 81-10) United Kingdom: London (Heathrow) (18.7°C, 81-10) United States of America: -
Warmest average max temperature in the warmest month:
Austria: Vienna (26.7°C, 71-00) ... same as above: Neusield and Bruckneudorf (26.3°C, 71-00) France unsure data: Orange (30.8°C, 81-10) Germany: Karlsruhe (26.6°C, 81-10) Iceland: Kirkjubæjarklaustur (14.9°C, 61-90) Norway: no data Sweden: no data Switzerland: Magadino/Cadenazzo (27.6°C, 81-10) United Kingdom: London (Heathrow) (23.5°C, 81-10) United States of America: -

Austria: St. Jakob (-1.6°C, 71-00) France unsure data: Mouthe (3.2°C, 71-00) Germany: no data Iceland: ReykjahlÃð (-1.8°C, 61-90) Norway: no data Sweden: no data Switzerland: Samedan (-1.6°C, 81-10)...i'm pretty sure that some villages at a much higher altitude have a colder average high (for example Juf), but I couldn't find data for them) United Kingdom: Dalwhinnie (4.3°C, 81-10; 2.7°C, 51-80), Leadhills (3.8°C, 71-00) United States of America: Chicken, Alaska (-24.3°C, 81-10); Umiat, Alaska (-24.4°C, 81-10, not permanently inhabited)
I'll be thankful for any new data... especially if it is data of the average year temperatures, cause i didn't consider them yet.
Edit: I will accept any new data without questioning it by asking for sources (although it's always better if one can show a source) and so on, cause the effort would be to big and we're not scientific institute. But if someone wants to correct data contributed by me or an other user, it would be nice if he could state a reason why the previous data is false and it would be awesome, if a reliable source could be posted as well (in such a case), which clearly shows, which data is correct.

Question: Is the village of Furnace Creek, which is located in Death Valley, a year-round inhabited place? Cause it clearly wins as the place with the warmest month.
