Not really tough for me. Sochi. Warmer summer nights. Winters are a tie, but for me the summer nights do it. Plus the Black Sea is warmer than the frigid NW Pacific coastal waters.
Definitely Sochi. The temperatures, both average and record, are excellent year round, the precipitation patterns are quite good (could use maybe a couple less rain days in the winter months and a few more in the summer), and sunshine is very acceptable (a little more sun in the winter and a tad less in the summer would make it even better). An excellent climate overall that I would be quite satisfied with.
Roseburg is pretty nice as well, but the distribution of precipitation is poor in my opinion - summers are far too dry and winters too wet.
I'll go with Sochi as well. What is odd, though, is that Sochi despite having nearly double the rainfall has fewer precipitation days. I know that the threshold is lower for Roseburg (.01 inches < 1mm) but either number is very small.
It really annoys me to see how much warmer places of the same latitude are than my city. Oh well, there's always Vladivostok and southern Nova Scotia.
This is actually a really tough battle for me. Sochi is slightly warmer but I suspect Roseburg has at least a 300 hr sun advantage, so I will withhold my judgement.
Roseburg is surprisingly nice, but I don't like the dry summers. Sochi's climate is excellent though imo, good sunshine and fairly high precipitation all year as well.
I'd rate Sochi an A, Roseburg a B
