Sochi has A+ summers, and the extra sun that Roseburg probably gets, would be in summer when it doesn't really matter anyway. Winters aren't that different, with Sochi possibly sunnier at that time of the year. Sochi it is.

It's amazing to think that my town has average winter nights 2C/4F colder than somewhere in Russia. Sochi still doesn't seem to be able to grow the same range of plants as here though.

The skiing in that area looks seriously good.

Both are too cold in winter for me, but I chose Roseburg for the warmer summer days.

It's weird, I see an overwhelming preference on these forums for wet, cloudy summers. Odd. I guess there's no accounting for taste but for me the endless sunny dry days of a west coast summer are heaven.

Me too.
IMO Roseburg climate is superior to Sochi in everyway.

For me, summer sun just isn't important, but spring, autumn and particularly winter sun are important. My only requirement for summer is good rainfall and warmth. Places with dry summers are fine for holidays, but I find a little depressing otherwise.

Sochi for thunderstorms and tighter diurnal ranges in summer.

Sochi, of course. Roseburg's desert precipitation is something I really don't like.

Roseburg is not a desert, they aren't even semi arid, they recieve more precip than they evaporate every year, so they are a humid climate

0.11 inches of precipitation in a month to me is a desert.
