Please stay in Utah.

Yeah - Utah is steeped in problems of their own, ain't they? Big and large problems.

Wow, I just chose a state that is out of the way and makes me think of farmland and ice cream. Was I ever wrong about that.

Yes. VT was really nice in the pre-Bernie days.

Any explanations for as to why?
Liberal controlled areas all have a higher drug/crime rate....no rocket scientist needed to figure that out.

Again, I'm not seeing a credible source to prove a thesis that some posters have obviously made up in their own heads.

Sorry, that's just so much fake news. The worst opioid areas are in and around Appalachia, a conservative stronghold.

In general, drug overdose rates tend to be higher in rural areas, with the notable exception of the northern plains, upstate NY and the "black belt" in parts of the south. Rural areas tend to be more conservative.

"Privately insured" opium ODers ignores a big piece of the pie.

Utah has enormous demographic problems, all caused by population growth. I did a company project for UDOT pertaining to I-15 engineering, asphalt/pavement condition as well as new road construction, and could not believe the rate of construction of new infrastructure, commercial, and residential. I don't see it being sustainable for much longer on given technology has generally led to less demand for jobs on a larger scale, yet they are the fastest growing state in the US presently in percentage terms.

Also very dismal drug abuse / suicide rates. (For obvious reasons...) sad as it is a pretty good state / region. with lots of potential.

But the 2nd map I showed includes all drug overdoses. Here's another one showing the same thing:

You can see it is at least as much a rural (and thus, conservative) problem as it is an urban one. All those dark red areas in Utah, Oklahoma, southern Missouri and Appalachia hardly voted for Hillary Clinton!
