since romney is the likely GOP nominee, and the presence of loons like Bachman probably hurts the GOP, Im not sure why Target giving money to Bachman should be a huge issue to me.

The fact that Target supports such right wing loons would have set off a boycott back in the 60s. I'll agree that I don't care much about the politics of either Target or Wal Mart. I'll shop where it's convenient for me, which is both on occasion.

I think they'd do better to have special spots for moms with kids in strollers. Family friendly instead of yuppie friendly. I don't appreciate Target telling me what kind of a car to buy.

Im pretty sure there was quite a lot of inconsistency back then as well. I remember boycotts of Nestle, and related to South Africa. I cant recall a boycott of a firm because of candidates they supported.

Special spots for fuel efficient vehicles IS a family issue. Im not going to live in a climate changed world - my grandchildren (keniena hara) will.
Of course you are free to shop somewhere other than Target if you like. I dont see that providing a small incentive to buy a different vehicle is telling you what car to buy. You can still shop there, and can still park in their lot, you just dont get access to ALL the spots. Seeing that as an impingment on your freedom sounds to me like the same sensitivity that sees a pennies a gallon carbon tax as slavery, that seems modest and inadequate social services as "socialism" etc. But you are entitled to your feelings.
I believe it's also a LEED point, if the developer is seeking LEED certification for their building.
So that's the hidden agenda! Kinda makes LEED sound pretty "PC" rather than actually helpful to the environment. What does it benefit the energy efficiency of a building to have close-in parking for Priuses?

Er, it reduces GHG emissions.
In fact one of the big criticisms I have heard of LEED cert is that it focuses too much on the building, and not the larger context - so you can get LEED cert for building a casino hotel in the desert in Nevada.
