The title says it all. Why do we remember our past lives, or parts of them? Why are we reincarnated? If there is some issue I must deal with, I want to do so. Is that why we remember our past lives? Or does it have to do with some other reason that we remember?
Why are we reincarnated? I believe it has to do with past karma. You know that old saying "Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it?" We need to learn these lessons, tend to unfinished business. 'How can we do it?' you might ask? I believe that the key to breaking out of the karmic cycle is to look within yourself for the answers. Be the best person you can be. Be selfless, do good in the world no matter how little or how big. Have compassion, love your enemies... the center of everything is to love.. love yourself, love others. Through love, we become enlightened and learn how to fix our "mistakes". This is why we reincarnate... to have the chance to do that.
I think that we are not meant to remember past lives but it is an incredible ability to do so if we can. It will make our learning of lessons, easier.
This is just my opinion, though. This is what I have come to gather from thinking on these topics for years.
