Hey everyone, I was wondering if I would be eligible for a first time extension in my state (TEXAS). This is my first claim and I filed on July 2010 and I understand the cutoff date is Nov 20-27,2010. After I claim my payment on Nov 21,2010 my balance will be $26.00. Does my balance have to be at 0 to qualify for? Will I be eligible for EB or any Tiers and extensions? I'm just so confused and scared.

If your balance is not zero on November 21, you will not be eligible to move to Tier 1 unless Congress has extended the legislation and the eligibility dates.
Texas will not be paying EB without an extension. This from Texas website:
Quote:
The last date Texas can pay EB is set by federal law. If Congress extends the deadline for EB, TWC will notify eligible claimants by mail.
So I will have to wait to see if Congress extends the deadline?
Yes. Better plan for the worst and hope for the best. Political situation on the extension is unpredictable. Most likely there will be an extension, but its passage may be delayed until December, in which case you will not receive benefits for a few weeks or more, depending on how long it takes Texas to get up to speed again.
If that happens, KEEP CLAIMING. It is a lot easier for claims to be paid if yours are current in the system.
Also be sure to keep your information on your "work in Texas" account (the EMployment site) current, if it goes dormant while you are witing for an extension, the Workforce Commison can use it as an excuse to deny or delay any extension you may qualify for. Been there, done that...yes, in Texas.
got it and i will log in every week to prevent that
