I agree - strangely erotic. The violence of the Rat's attack on Sookie was gross.

I was about to cancel HBO...and then this series came along. It's repulsive but I can't stop watching it. I really like it.

This show has me hooked already. It is almost like the adult version of the Twilight series novels. I do agree it's a little too graphic sexually.............but the main vampire...........*sigh*.........I drool.....in front of my husband...he thinks it's funny.............*sigh*

I'm a big fan of most of the HBO series like The Sopranos, Deadwood, Rome, etc. This is interesting and a bit different. Its OK, but its not like I can't wait to watch the next one like some of their other series.

It's hard to believe HBO turned down Mad Men for John from
Cincinnati. What a mistake.

I don't know that much about vampires. The only book I read on the subject was Interview with a Vampire. Does anyone know the significance of the dog in the series? My Irish grandmother (extremely superstitious) always believed a dog's saliva had some curing effect. I thought of this during the "curing" of Sookie.

Agreed. The sex scenes always catch me off guard, and I find them graphic, and unnecessary at times.
But hell, that last one was a bit funny. I'm not liking some of the characters right now. But I have to give them a chance

I love the books & so far am really enjoying the show. I like that the dumb blonde sexpot on the show is Sookies brother.
