According to internet sources, Randy makes between $6.5 million and $10 million for each season of American Idol.

I dont look at him as "poor Randy". I look at him as a smart businessman. American Idol is a highly-rated show, with millions of viewers.

Spoiler
I had thought (and hoped) it would be Jermaine. We were being set up for him to come back, just by the amount of time they devoted to his being cut. If it is him, I'm SO happy for him!!

Many people have thanked me for posting the spoilers. I've done it in past seasons and not had any complaints. I'm sorry if it bothers you. I wish others would post if it bothers them too and I wont do it anymore.

I wonder how someone like Adam Brock who is married with a child and a mortgage(as they showed his house) gets that much time off from work.

The show provides them with food and lodging, and most of the contestants are teens or in their early 20s and live at home. But I wonder how a working dad can afford to do this?

In this economy how many jobs can you walk into and say "oh I'm going on AI and may be gone for 2 months"....LOL.

I've also wondered that about a lot of performance/"reality" shows like AI, Biggest Loser, Survivor, etc.
I'm sure that's the risk they're willing to take, though. I'm sure they either work something out with their employers, or take the plunge and figure it's all or nothing.
They also do get paid for each T.V. appearance, so there is some compensation aside from being fed and housed.

Wow what a night - almost everyone did a terrific job.

My favorites so far are Reed Grimm and Joshua Ledet. I hope they both make it through the cuts this week.

I think Adam Brock will be going home and the other 5 probably will be from the second half of the night.
