She should be allowed out of jail when Sharon Tate and her baby are allowed back to life.

Convicted murderers should not be given a pass simply because they're terminally ill.

This woman participated in one of the most gruesome murders of the 20th century. She should never again see the outside of the prison in this lifetime.

There are a lot of guys walking around in this country who allowed themselves to be persuaded to spray napalm on small children and watch them burn alive, and feel proud of what they did, just because they were commanded to do so by officers who, for all I know, might have been sociopaths. I would feel safer with Susan Atkins out on the street.

Don't read anything into this that is not there. If you've seen one brutal killer influenced to commit horrendous acts against humanity, you've seen them all.

She and the rest of that Manson bunch have been treated far better than they deserved. Upon being convicted of those heinous crimes, they all should've been immediately escorted into the next room, and executed without fanfare or delay. Such a waste of taxpayer resources housing these rejects. She should remain in confinement until she passes on. In fact, her ailing health and eventual passing are not newsworthy.

Same applies to all those gangbangers who cause the death of another human being, including the conspirators. Upon being convicted, they should all receive immediate execution.

Time to get medieval on this people. Crime has gotten out of control.

You're right about that. But, look at the crimes that have gotten out of control.

Take identity theft and credit card fraud, for example. While you're worryihg about one person getting out of prison, every single one of us is at risk from criminals who are operating with absolute impuinity. Nothing whatsoever is being done at any level enforcement of justice. The thieves automatically win by deault. What does a peson do if his ID is stolen, or if a crook fraudulently drains your debit card or runs up charges on your credit card? The police won't even talk to you on the phone about it. Your bank shrugs their shoulders and says What can we do? Your state attorney general says you have to track down the culprit yourself and assemble the proof of wrongdoing, then maybe they will look into it. Credit card thieves are the only people in American who are actually presumed innocent until proven guilty. Credit reporting agencies are even less responsive than the thieves themselves, and profit handsomely from your damaged credit. Banks rigidly comply with every single dotted-I in the Patriot act, but will do nothing whatsoever to assist you if felons defraud your account, except show you the schedule of fees they will charge you if you ask them to stop payment. The thieves are hiding behind 800-numbers, and even the phone company protects their identity. Waitresses are selling credit card numbers for 5 bucks apiece, complete with the security code on the back.

So what is keeping Susan Atkins in jail going to do about the fact that crime has gotten out of control? Who are you more afraid of? A dying 60-year old Susan Atkins, or a waitress disappearing for a minute with your credit card?

White collar crime, especially identification theft is totally out of control; I agree with you on that...I recall watching, when she had a series going, Erin Brokovitz, can't remember the name of the show..maybe Final Justice?...there was one episode, I was d*&* impressed with it...a woman had her identity stolen, she went through hell, and back, lost everything, got sued royally, wrote letters upon letters upon letters and those companies who were going after her, clearly did not read those letters...she lost her home, her marriage was destroyed and she just about lost her sanity; one day she decided she had enough; she hired an 'new' attorney who could not afford to take on a case, pro-bono however, they struck a deal...she would do all the work, the typing, etc., and whatever she won, she would give him I think 1/3 or 1/2...so, they sued every credit card company that had sued her, she sued every company that had sued her and/or maligned her credit report, and all of a sudden, every one of those companies scrambled and said, okay, okay, what do you want, and her lawyer said: 1. remove this from all of her credit bureaus; 2. repay her every dime she was tortured to pay for what was not hers in the beginning; 3. make restitution. They did, and she won every single law suit.

That's not to say we all should have to do that when we are hit with identify theft however, I think it is pretty amazing that just about every single Attorney General site has a separate link on their site for 'identity theft', click here....and poof, what happens, too much red tape, too convoluted...one thing is always good to do, put a block on your credit bureau...downside is you can't get "instant" credit at a store but that's okay, that means the ID thief can't either; on the back of your credit card, don't sign your name, write "ask for ID"...little things, but those tools can help a little bit.

You can write "see photo id" "ask for id" and other such nonsense all day long, but it doesn't amount to anything when the cashiers are too rushed to compare signatures or ask for ids. Now that you can make purchases for up to $25 (I think, it might be $20) without signing, it is that much easier for a thief. There are also several places where you swipe your own card (WalMart, Target, Best Buy etc etc) the cashiers don't even handle your card, so they wouldn't notice if it was signed or not and if they were supposed to ask for id or not. It seems that we are making it easier and easier for people to steal other's ids. Everyone is in sooooo much of a hurry (I hate those Visa commercials where everyone is singing and dancing and swiping their cards and then someone comes up with either a check or cash and everything gets grey, the dancing and music stop and the person is looked at like they are the scum of the universe.) I don't have a solution, because obviously telling people to slow down will not help. Maybe we should do away with credit cards completely and go to a cash only society.

To get back on topic I don't think she should be released, but if her care is costing California that much money, maybe they should just use lethal injection and save the taxpayers a bunch of money.

Yes, we are all in too much of a hurry; too much slips through the cracks, especially "us" and when we do, damn that expression about "City Hall" does run true, doesn't it...

I do not think she should be released either; I think it will cost lots of money either way; hospice, home health care, State assistance, probably of some sort. I am pretty much a very compassionate woman...and as my earlier posts have indicated, perhaps if there had been some effort or sign of remorse, I might have second or third thoughts...but none...it was truly a heinous crime....
