I've driven about an hour to go to the outlet store of a particular brand of shoe that is the most comfortable for my hard-to-fit feet.
If I need to shop somewhere further than that, I try to wait until I can make the trip multi-purpose. For example, if I want to go to IKEA (2-1/2 hours away), I wait until I have an opportunity to also visit with my best friend who lives nearby.
When I was in college in Boston, occasionally we would be awake and bored at 2 am and head up to LL Bean's in Maine. They're open 24 hours. I'm not sure how much shopping we actually did.
In terms of the "fartest" I've ever gone....that only applies if I'm driving alone, and what happens in the car stays in the car.
This is the truth! Sometimes I step out onto the balcony....
I usually do a little shopping where ever I visit, but that is not the main purpose of the trip. The farthest I have gone to shop is maybe a couple of hours to go to an outlet mall. This was probably more than 5 years ago. Last year I was on vacation and one day was rainy and awful. We drove an hour to an outlet mall just because we were bored. It's pretty rare these days as online shopping saves so much time and gas and I usually get a better price.
I love that the title says "fartest" because the 12 year old in my can't stop laughing!
As for the answer... I'm not sure, does ordering stuff on amazon count if it comes from a warehouse far from me? I'm not much of a shopper, especially the kind that requires going into an actual store.
Years ago, Southwest Airlines was offering flights from phoenix to LAX for $25 round trip, including taxes. I grabbed a ticket and spent the day shopping in the LA garment district. In those days, I was a size 4-6, so there was plenty of very cheap, high end designer stuff to bring home that night.
i miss those prices
i do vegas to los angeles (or vice versa) often and had grown accustomed to sub-$75 flights. But lately these flights have been $200+. Being a cheap ass, have been taking megabus more often, which is a total pain, but at least still cheap (paid $15 for bus yesterday).
anyways, my longest trip for shopping is prolly vegas to tijuana to buy meds. a few years back had to take something for a couple months, and when i went to fill it, they wanted $500 for a 30 day supply. only cost like $30 or so in TJ, so went down there instead.
