Oh please. All of Uptown is suburban. Post Oak is full of huge parking lots on wide streets with narrow sidewalks. There's one development with storefronts close to the street, that's on Sage, another suburban street in the suburbs.

Good thing post oak is getting a new mass transit system and improving pedestrian friendliness.. As for developments being close to the street, you realize post oak is being widened to accommodate for the BRT system, so the new and expanded sidewalks will be closer to the buildings.

Bus rapid transit. Since uptown didn't get light rail funding they took matters into their own hands and are implementing a brt line down post oak with dedicated bus lanes in the middle, just like the way the light rail lines are laid out, to clear the ROW for easy light rail implementation in the future when funding becomes available.

Start date for Chevron Tower has been pushed, will start in 2015 now.

Quote:
A few notes:
  • Chevron has delayed the start of this project for multiple reasons, one of them being to allow more time for the design.
  • The tower will get built, there have been 0 discussions regarding cancellation.
  • The height of the tower was increased shortly after the project was awarded to the GC. (they added two floors)
  • With the additional time for design there are discussions regarding the desired height for the tower, nothing is currently set in stone and anyone who throws out a height figure right now needs to understand that the height of the tower is FLEXIBLE with the start of construction pushed out.

Dallas probably has a ratio of just as many plain boring boxes to nice buildings as Houston.. We just have more buildings.
I personally think Regent Square is a far better development for urbanity than BLVD place. That's me though. I really hope Regent Square gets off the ground in the other phases. Uptown is pretty suburban. It's very much like Tyson's Corner in the DC area. A transit system will go a long way to trying to fixing this.
